Hi guys (and gals), new to this board but here is what is up. I have a line on a very cool old race frame and I would like to build it with a T500 engine. I want to check a couple of things out before I buy a T500 for this project. My challenge is if I can clear the down tubes with the headers. I have no issue building my own headers so I can move them around a little bit but ultimately I wanted to understand where the stock headers are.

Is somone willing to give me 2 or 3 measurements from a stock T500 frame and header set up?

What I would like to know is:
1. what is the distance between the head pipes at the point the go past the frame down tubes?
2. What is the distance to the outside of the frame down tubes at that point?
3. Lastly what is the distance between the head pipes at the point they drop straight down and start to make the turn back?

thanks a bunch!

I have seen a couple of t500 into TZ350 conversions and it's not impossible but not pretty. In fact there's a T500 motor into an RD350 frame over on DTT and he had a few issues to resolve to build that. Anything larger than a TZ frame or any frame to hold a motor as large as or larger than a Yamaha twin is possible.

As you mention, width between the pipes may potentially be an issue if the frame tubes are too wide.

If you have any pictures to share, I'm sure people would be interested to see what you're working with.
