73 GT750 Muffler Mounting Question

It has been awhile since I removed my pipes and now I am not really sure the proper mounting procedure. I think both the big muffler and little muffler mount on the back side of the bushing with the big muffler going on first and the little muffler with the welded on bolt going on last (closer to the frame). Is this correct and if so, is there suppose to be a rubber gasket or something between the two hangers so they are not metal to metal? I can't believe I did not get a picture of the correct mounting before I took off, but then again after 40 years there is nothing to say they were mounted correctly before. Thanks in advance for everyone's support. ///Pat

 Yes that's the correct way,,just make sure there is a washer between the exhaust hanger & the frame mount, you don't want metal to metal,,as the rubber flexi mount will not do its job & you'll get some horrible vibrations back through the frame. The rubber mounts wear out over time & need replacing,I did mine earlier this year.Do not do everything up tight at the exhaust port flanges or underneath at the "Y" junction, until you get things right at the back...things need a bit of movement to align themselves, once happy, tighten everything up properly, hope this helps.. :?

Thanks ... and just in time. I had started to rethink things and was about to put the big muffler hanger on the front of the bushing with the footpeg going through it first and the small muffler hanger on the backside of the bushing. Thanks ///Pat
