I think my T500 may have a T350 motor???

Post by Ronin7 »

Hello,

I recently bought a 75 T500 project bike and I am in the process of replacing the crank seals. The seals I bought for a T500 don't fit (they are too large both in the inner and outer circumference). Is it possible that my motor is actually a 350cc? Are the T500 and T350 motors very similar? The reason I ask is that I have a T500 repair manual everything on my motor matches up with the T500 manual.

Any help/advice would be appreciated!

Thanks,

Nathan

Measure a piston or the cylinder bore, T500 stock pistons are 70mm across.
Two strokes, its just that simple.

You've been asking about several different issues.
Might help if you post pics of everything you have questions about.

+1 to jabcb's comment.

To your question - the engine number will tell you eh ? If the preface is T500-xxxxx then that is what it is. What part numbers did you buy for seals ? 8)

Exactly what I was thinking when I saw this thread.

Thanks guys- I do appreciate the help. Pics of the chassis coming but here are pics of the seal issue- First is the engine serial number (thanks for that suggestion- I forgot it said T500 right on it). Second is the seal kit I bought and third is the two seals compared- the original on the right (you can see the size difference).

I bought this bike as a non-runner on craigslist and immediately noticed the kickstart would fail to engage 80% of the time, lever would just flop down with no resistance. So I split the cases to figure out the issues and while I was at it I decided to replace all the seals, did a quick search on Ebay and found the seal kit and it seemed like one stop shopping so I picked up a kit. I am still working with the guy who sells the kit but he swears he has never had an issue reported with the crankshaft seals. :wth:

An easy alternative is to get a T500 seal kit from Paul Miller.
He is a Suzuki expert that sells on eBay & direct.
Currently has T500 seal kit on eBay: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Suzuki-T500-GT5 ... 1136019662
