I think they kept the steering head and downtubes to the swingarm pivot and even left the heavy cast iron radiator mounts and engine mounts on the cradle. Top tubes and whole rear end are new.

You could leave the rear end of the stock frame for a whole lot less work (& cost)

The Sam racing bike looks like it's using, GS1100 carb boots to get the carbs turned up....I was wondering if anyone had done that instead of spending $$$ on machining and welding. The frame looks a bit easier to weld up compared to the lowboy stlye....Need to figure out a gas tank that will work, and see if anyone can make those cross through pipes here in the States....
Still no word back from the frame guys in the UK that have the frame at beginning of thread :(

The Same Racing frame is really very close to a stock GT and should be possible as Dave said with a tube bender and welder. Much simpler than a 75/6 lowboy type.

The options for a tank are probably to buy an Indian alloy TZ tank and modify that to make it work, or make one from fiberglass/carbon fiber.

For exhausts on a street bike either Swarbricks or JEMCo and cut and weld one of them to go round the bend and back. I'd use a TR750 late style seat even though the early ones had a rounded TR500 shape.

Here is a handy program .. you fill in a few details and it will allow you to print out the cone shape on paper http://www.conelayout.com/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; . Some angled cones have a flat pattern you would never expect .

Is that the bender that uses a bottle jack ?.....I was wondering if those really worked or not...
I have bought a few things from harbor freight that have not worked at all like a higher quality ($$$) tool would....The wheel bearing puller for one, that I tried on a set of magnesium wheels....that's another long story.
I'll look into that bender this next weekend. I have a friend who has a metal fab shop, as a last resort.

I can weld the frame...but welding the pipes is a different story...no tig welder...
But I do have a friend who works at a boat factory tig welding pontoons. Maybe i could cut/shape tack a pipe together and give to him?

I've always wanted a bender.....but could never think to spend the money on a professional style hydraulic version. But for $100....I really should give this small one a shot....I could start making all kinds of things that have been floating in my head
Only 90 degree bend though...would have to do several bends then cut and weld for a 180 as on a tail section loop. Or make a different die somehow.

They do look like GS1100/1150 boots so I ordered one to check it out. I had a look at a mate's GS100 and they look like they might work. I'll let you know when it arrives.

I have some on my 82 GS1000SZ....but they are still holding the carbs to the heads
They would be for 34mm carbs...not sure about dimension on the cylinder head side?
Hope it works :)

I got a response on price for the PHW frame I was interested in.....

hi randy

sorry for the delayed reply,i have been having computer problems.

the price for our xr11 tr750 replica framekit(4130 chrom-moly frame with removable engine mounts, alloy fuel tankand swingarm with all bearings, spacers and axle sliders) is £2400 stirling plus shipping.

as said before we do a cheaper kit(all the same exept we use a seamless cds steel tube for the frame)at
£2200 stirling plus shipping

as to shipping to you we are getting quotes in the region of £500-600 so if you would like to arrange your own shipping its no problem.

steering yoke depends on application(eg original period forks and yokes for racing or some customers who use there bikes on the road go for a more modern front end).
the original bikes had a 4.17 inch trail with an 18 inch wheel.

we can make up new stems to use whichever front end set up you like no problem, the frame head takes a 52x25x11(bearing no 30205)taper roller bearing an length of frame head is 7 inches if that helps.

rear axle sliders are drilled 27.5mm to allow the use of most wheel spindle sizes with top hat reducers.

also if you do go ahead and order a framekit from us we will throw in one of our fairing mounting kits free of charge

thank you for your time, hope to hear from you again

best regards

paul
