1976 Suzuki GT 550 A


I have an oil leak which seems to be coming from behind the neutral switch (the thingy near the front sprocket) . I have been told it's a relative easy fix. Can someone give me the part No. and where i might get the seal from please.

Richard - I'm assuming you haven't already checked the on line parts fiches ? There are many to choose from - I normally use the ones at http://www.powersportspro.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; as they filter out most of the no longer available parts.

I think what you are looking for is 09280-28002 and it should still be available from your friendly neighbourhood Suzi dealer.

On the leaks, sometimes they leak oil through the switch body, there is a second, smaller O-ring inside and they are not separately listed by Suzuki unfortunately! before removing your switch you might want to completely clean the area and be 100% sure which O-ring is leaking to avoid disappointment. Don't ask me how I know

There really is no neutral switch per say. It's all incorporated in the gear position indicator. Neutral is the blue wire. True neutral switches are found on bikes that have no gear position indicator.

I beg to differ. The single bullet connector coming off #37 is blue. It is the neutral light wire.

I have a Neutral switch on my bike (750) and no gear position switch. It's the other switch (#36) in that diagram and uses a shift drum with a slot in the end IIRC. I think they were fitted to the 72 models only.

73 on should have a gear position switch in the same place and I think they use the same O ring.
