Cobra seats repros… at last!

Righty,
I've finally managed to find somebody to redo the seats and foams, price not yet final as of now.
Good thing is the company is located in the US so there will be a lot less to-and-fro.
The base will be fiber but, once covered, will look stock. Nice and fine. The bottom is gel-coated black. Looks stock
(how many times do you look at the bottom of T500 seat?

)
It's Brad from HVC, you can check the previous repros he's done here:
http://www.hvccycle.com/seats.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
As we are giving him a sample, we get the first batch at a introductory price.
After that, it will go back to normal prices for the general public.
I think Muzza, cyclebuster and me need one complete (pan + foam) set. I might need a 2nd one.
That's 4 of us, the more we are, the more likely it's going to happen as it helps Brad recoup his tooling cost.
Covers are readily available at very different prices… your call.
Jim, are you still willing to send your pan and foam?

Hey Spike,
Got your PM and responded. HVC has always been good to deal with so this is a good thing!

I'm wanting a new seat pan for my GT500 A and I was wondering if anyone has had good results with these re-popped seat pans from HVCcycle?
I'm sure they're fine but I just want to make double sure before I order one from across the pond by getting others folks personal experience of them with regards to fit, strength, etc

I don't want to open a can of worms here (so leave my name on the list for a pan/foam set please) but has anyone looked at this listing on fleabay ?

To me, that looks like a very similar seat foam profile to the Cobra, and it is a new metal pan - has anyone else considered buying one, tossing the cover it comes with and replacing it with a decent button style Cobra cover ? Just asking.

Based on the level of response, I'm guessing 'no' ?

Spike - any updates on this ? I ask only as I will otherwise be starting to rebuild the one I have as I want to have the bike ready for late March. Thanks !

Well - I got tired or waiting for a reply, and so contacted Brad at HVCcycle directly. Looks like this is a no go:

Cobra Seat Pan (and foam)

No luck without spending a fortune. A minimum of 25 seat bases, seat foams, and covers required. But I think the covers are already made so not to worry on the covers.
Need a good seat as an example.
On the pans it would just be the pan. The mounting brackets would need to be made here and then attached to the pan.
I am not in the position to make such a large investment and sit on the inventory.
Please let me know your thoughts.
Thank you

So back to square one I suppose.

For myself, the edges are completely rotten away on mine, but the upper surface is intact - I will either fab up the sides, or perhaps pick up another pan with good edges off something else and splice in the edge I need to secure the cover to. That would preserve the stamped pattern and shape and so should work OK.

You realise GT500 seat pans in usable shape are rare eh ? As in really rare ?
