what is the difference between these two in terms of fuel amount.

is bigger?
been having a rethink.
at the moment the w650 are way to high to buy/
I dont fancy paying over £3000 for a 10 year old bike.
once the w800 appear on the 2nd market I think that the W650 will take a nose dive.
just missed out on getting a GT500 for £1400 and it looks in good nick 1976 model.
anyway if I decide to go ahead I may ask Pedro if he can sorte me a good one out.
I'll sell my new bike 1st and keep the thundercat for fun rides out. john

John, I think the biggest difference is with the 750 you can travel a fair distance, with the 500 in my experience you can’t go too far, it’s not really suitable for long motorway journeys as the 750 is

I do know that I could only get roughly 90 miles out of my ol 'T'
average about 45 miles to uk gallon.

I got the impression that the tank came off the GT550?

if I do decide to go for the GT500 , I think I'll put the 750 tank on.
I may not restore the bike to original but modernize it.
maybe put the gsx wheels on if they'll fit.
you can get the cheap.
with less chrome coz I'm a lazy bugger and less rust to worry about.

The GT500 and GT750 have the same size tank 17 litres as compared to the 14 litre tank of the T500.

The T500 is perfectly Ok for trips. I take the old 500 on a trip to Phillip Island to watch the SuperBikes every year . Thats 700 kms away, no problem, I get 200km to the tank, thats about equal to 41MPG

Yes, at a speed of 90-100 km/h it will go ok but here you get jammed in with the Lorries and caravans not such a nice experience
How long are you taking to cover the 700km?

Sitting on about 120KPH.. It takes about 8.5 hours but thats with a stop for lunch and fuel breaks with coffee

The 750 tank and the GT500 tank are the same. My '76 will get a consistent 43 mpg which roughly works out to 172 miles per tank.(not touching reserve) Now my route to work has a top speed of 40 mph, so at a higher speed I am not sure what it will get. I also have a windshield mounted, so I don't know if that will adversely affect highway mileage up or down. It does make riding in colder weather MUCH more comfortable. I know it is hard to believe, but I have as yet to actually take it on a trip at higher speeds enough to get a reliable highway mpg measurement. Supposedly it can get up to 50 mpg.......

I suppose you could get 50mpg if you were REAL CAREFUL on the throttle and sit on no higher than 50mph.
45mpg is the best I can get out of the t500 and it's supposed to get better milage than the GT500

thats what I got on average on my old T 45mpg which I think is good considering its a two stroke.
I've just been offered a 1982 Suzuki 650 Katana shafty.
for £500. it had one coil problem when it was last on the road in the late 90's.the body work is in reasonable nick but the frame and shaft drive needs painting.in other words it wouldn't cost that much to do it up. every thing is there no cracks etc.I've not seen it yet but my friend has.
but 1st I've got to sell my er6f bike to make room.
I bought the bike new in 2009 and done less than 3,000 miles.
just got it run in then I got a chest infection which lasted 3 months,
all the usuall hospital stuff then they found that I got cancer(all sorted now,just check up every year etc).
the second we had a really shitty weather . wet most of the time floods all over the country.
this year I hardly rode the bike due to having a numb bum problem. this to me has to be the worst bike for comfort. I just cannot ride far.
had the seat re-done etc,air hawl pads etc still no joy.
the most milage I did in one day is 220 miles with regular stops etc. by the time I got home I could've cried with the pain in my ass.
yes it was that bad I didn't ride the bike for nearly 2 months!
wife and my 2 son's are telling me to buy a new car with the money and ride my thundercat for a year and see how things go before I consider another bike whether new or old.
