I need to know what size spoke wrench will fit GT550 spokes.
I am having a bicycle shop build my wheels and they don't have the right size wrench so I have to produce one for them. I cannot find any specs online.
Thanks,
Willy

Spoke nipples go by numbers that don't correlate to anything American or metric. Go to your local independent motorcycle shop and see if they have or can get a 6 way spoke wrench. I bought one from Parts N More that got the job done. http://www.partsnmore.com/parts/suzuki/gt550/?filters" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;[category]=tools

Re: What size spoke wrench???
Thanks! I did see those on a few online retailers.
I am trying to find one locally so I can avoid shipping. I am already spending three times as much on wheels than I originally planned on.

Re: What size spoke wrench???
Nope. A spoke wrench must be very thick to be effective on the flats. Several years ago I made 3 of them out of 1/8' tool steel. All 3 broke before I got the wheel trued. This last go round on the GT750 I bought the wrench from PartsNMore. It is 9mm thick (.354) and covers the entire nipple square. A slotted screwdriver would splay out the first time you applied any torque.I would bet a few min with a small flat file and a screw driver you could make one .

Here I have laced up new spokes on the GT750 rear wheel. You can see the spoke wrench in the foreground on the left...............
