Just acquired a 4LS GT550 with J&R Power Pipes expansion chambers.
As shown in the pic, the pipes have a disk welded on the end. There are no removable baffles. Is this setup the way Power Pipes were made? Did they come with removable baffles that are now missing?

Don't know about the pipes other than that is not a very good looking weld!
I do see that you need rear brakes, a new chain and tire!

No and yes. They came with removable baffles and those have been modified - maybe they lost the circlip or perhaps the circlip groove was worn out or too large.

+1 to what TZ375 said, you can see the old circlip groove.
That square-section tyre is amazing

Re: J&R Power Pipes on GT550
Thanks for the info.
Haven't ridden the bike yet. Had it running - exhaust pressure pulses felt uniform & trace of smoke was uniform as well.
Currently has a vintage Bates fairing. If the bike works out, will probably go with a nickel-plated Omar/Jemco 3-into-1 exhaust & remove the fairing.
Don't know what the manufacturers were thinking when they made square-section bike tires like the one in the pic.

Re: J&R Power Pipes on GT550
Agreed. Looking at images 9--11, that looks like a car tire.
Have Avon RoadRiders on several on my bikes. Probably will use them on the GT550 too.
