1974 GT750L PARTS FROM 1974 GT550

Post by Thurible »

Greetings all. Does anyone know if I can take the front end and wheels off a 1974 GT550 and use them on a 1974 GT750L? Thanks for your help.

I imagine the fork springs/loading would be different between a 550 vs. 750 but you could check a website like Alphasports.com to see which part numbers are shared. If the rear wheel ends up being different I do have a spare GT750M rear for sale. Just send me a PM.
No really... it's supposed to smoke.

Even though the rear wheels look the same, they are not. There is only one difference and that is the spokes. 550 spokes are 2mm diameter wire. 750 spokes are 2.5mm diameter wire. I assume Suzuki did this to accommodate the extra weight of the 750.
On the other hand, all front wheels on the GT's are interchangeable - except the 72. 73 thru 77 all shared the same front wheel.
I was born with nothing and still have most of it left.

Thanks for the info guys. My dilema is that I have a 74 750L with a frame and motor. I need a front end, but I have a sweet deal on a 74GT550 that I can take advantage of.
