Importing bikes from the US

Hi,
Does anyone know how to go about exporting a bike from the US or importing them into the UK from the US? Are there any pitfalls that I should avoid? Any ideas of what are the typical shipping fees, import duty is? What would be the best payment method if the seller does not accept Paypal?
Sorry, lots of questions I know but I just thought this would be the best place to ask.
Thanks
Martin

+1
rickie picks up bikes all over the US for clients in Europe. I know that he just shipped a container the other day and is headed back to the UK for a while. You may have to que up, but he's certainly going to be your man. If you email him don't be discouraged if he doesn't reply right away. He gets hundreds of emails daily.

Hi Martin,
sent you a PM about the VJMC marque specialist Glenn Reay, he has imported a few gt's from the states.

This fellow gets a container load of US bikes in about once a month - might be worth a phone call or a visit if he's in your area as he also has parts bikes

Thanks for all the contacts, I didn't realise that you could get in touch with these people at source, I usually just wait till the bikes appear on Ebay. Anyway, now I know after doing a bit of digging how much it actually costs to ship and import them individually (at least £1000) so it seems worthwhile for me to get in touch with these guys if I see one I want on the internet.
Thanks again.
