Who has the cross reference to a non-diaphragm fuel tap? Mine has a slight leakage across the diaphragm so that it leaks slightly from the diaphragm breather hole.

I really don't like vacuum operated fuel taps and this is a great opportunity to get rid of it and to block off the vacuum hose of course.

What fuel tap fit the same bolt pattern with Off-On-Reserve and no diaphragm?

I am using the non vac type from parts n more on my T500. Will soon order another from them for my GT500. They sell adapter plates so fit is pretty universal. Seems a solid enough item to me and looks decent as well+ hard to beat the price.

Another option might to get a Pingel petcock and adapter plate. Someone else might know which adapter plate to use.

I have a Pingel vacuum petcock on my 73 GT250 & it works just fine. A bit pricey but it attaches to that bike without an adapter.

Thanks guys. I hadn't thought about PartsNmore. They have a sort of Pingel clone fitting and adapters at a much lower price. MikesXS also have some taps, but no idea what the stud spacing is. I do have a couple of Pingel taps for/from other projects but they are both dual outlet. I could always hook up a 2 into 2 Tee piece I suppose.

I also priced up a Kawasaki diaphragm, but that just gets me a working stock petcock and that's not a huge step forwards.

I could always get a Pingel vacuum operated tap but that seems like a retrograde step too.

But this morning I have a couple more choices than I did last night as it gently wept 93 octane tears on the garage floor. I hate it when a bike cries and this thing is sobbing.

Not knowing what bike you have makes it hard to say, but I put one on my 75 GT550 that was for an XS650 Yamaha. I found a new one on ebay pretty cheap and thought I would take a chance, and it bolted right up to the tank. I was a little leary at first because the Yammy petcock only takes a 5/16 hose and the GT's original is 3/8. I have had it on some pretty hard, high rpm, runs and see no signs of fuel starvation so it apparently delivers enough fuel.

That's good to know. Thanks. I looked at teh taps on MiokesXS but couldn't work out the bolt spacing. Pretty cheap though.

I have two Pingel taps - one is a new HD 22mm with dual outlets and the other came off a GSXR tank but is missing a filter plus it's a race tap - no reserve. If the Pingel shopping cart on their website comes back up tomorrow I'll order a new adapter and try that and if that's not a workable solution with a Tee piece, I'll try either partsNMore or Mikes XS.

Hmm . Yep my GT750 fuel petcock also leaks from the breather hole. So I've had that Petcock open about 4 different times trying to figure out, how the fuel actually gets past the rubber diaphram. I've never figured it out. I just don't see how it gets there. Yet it does. So just experimenting. I plugged that breather hole.

No more gas leak...The interesting thing is. Gas flows all the time now. I know I'm not supposed to plug the hole. Just wanted to see what happens. I'm going to trash the blasted thing and get something else, whenever I get back to the Buffalo.

The fuel is getting past the 'o-ring' on the inside part of the diaphragm. The fuel is then escaping through a tear or pinhole in the diaphragm itself. A new diaphragm and 'o-ring' will fix your leak and shutoff the gas.
