Suzuki 2 Strokes

my 74 ts185 is up and running. have taken it for a couple of five mile or so rides. all it needed was a tank clean/seal and petcock.
my 75 t500 is also running, sounds good. all electrics work. discovered thebottom of the tank is a bit rusted. keeping me from riding it. do know if a clean/seal job will work or if i'll end up replacing it.
amazing that both these bikes sat for thirty years and are both running, riding machines with a minimum of work.
i ended up buying the 72 t500 that was on ebay that i posted about earlier. picked it up for $1100.00. the biggest reason that bike did not sell on ebay was the crappy picture quality. i was literally flabergasted when first eyeballing it.cosmetically it is in wonderful condition, paint professionally done and excellent. tank, oil tank, side cover in virtually perfect condition seat looks new. i heat gunned off the checkered flag racing stripe and unwrapped the chambers.
a consistant one/two kick starter that rides great and pulls hard accelerating.
p.o installed new crank bearings, seals, new top end with first over pistons. did the case mod that prevents oil starvation in the gearbox. new steering stem bearings, and fork seals.
not crazy about the 16 inch rear wheel. need to find a 17 incher in that mag style. gotta get a set of chrome fenders too.

Not bad for $1100, IMO. You very seldom see a Titan with that much work into it for that cheap a price.
Those are Suzuki mags on there but I'm not sure about getting a 17" with a chain drive setup. You'll have a lot better luck getting a matching 18" with the chain setup, IIRC.
Someone who knows the early GS's better than I do will know what's available in 17" or 18" to match your front wheel.

Definitely looks to be a sweet deal.

Might be worth considering sticking with black. Could get a cheap rear fender & paint it black.

Only know of one GS that had mag 17" rear wheel, chain drive & rear drum brake.

Those gauges look like they're hanging out there in the breeze quite a bit. A couple of t500 style fenders and a oem gauge mount and that'll be a nice lookin' ride. Of course i'm partial to spoke wheels too, but thats just personal preference.

How does the handling feel with the additional offset forks.

i thought the gauges looked a bit "high" too. the p.o made the bracket to work with the stock gauges and gs triple tree. might drop it down to under the top triple. aesthetically i'm not to hip on the black painted headlight either but for the price of the bike i can't bitch.

since i didn't ride/own the bike with the stock front end, i can't really comment on any change in handling characteristics. my stock t500 needs a little gas tank love before its maiden voyage, so that baseline is out too for now. it does feel eerily similar to another old nail i own with the same design:

I can't imagine the work and money you've put into that. Is it the Super Cub with electric start ?? Pushrod engine ?? Remote float carb ??

1963 c100- no electric start. yes pushrod engine. remote float with tickler.
not restored all original down to tires, grips, even fuel line. the original owner put it away in the basement (the seller claimed it was more like a climate controlled bunker) in 1965 when she went off to college. sold by her estate to a nephew in 09. he got it running and rode it very little, mostly trailering it to bike nights around kansas city. i picked it up from him a week ago. owners manual, never used tool kit, copy of original title. pretty cool little bike.

i'm gonna post this in this thread and hope i get a few suggestions. the 72 T500 likes to start with no choke which i understand is an indication of rich mixture? can anyone help me with a base starting point on this beast. pilots, mains, air mixture screw(s), needle setting. all stock except uni filters and the expansion chambers. the p.o. couldn't remember the name of them were bought in the states. have street baffles vs. competition, as he referred to them.
