72 T500 with probs.

Post by prmurat »

I am trying to understand a couple of probs with my newly rebuilt T500: it was redone last July (pistons, crank, gearbox + modifs) and, as I could nor ride at that time, parked (with no gas) and on a battery tender... last weekend I went through it and found some traces of water in the left spark plug (condensation?)... engine starts ok, idle but does not go other 5000rpm and smokes a lot... I will change the gearbox oil, open the bolts to the pre-compression/crank chambers. But whats next?? It gives me the feeling of a blocked/seized choke plunger, is this possible?
I changed the petcock for a "manual" one cause I am always afraid of the diaphragm ones...now it leaks outside for real  Some more work!
What kind of coils couls I put there? my sparkplug wires are brittle and hard as stone!
Thank you
Philippe

Just emptied a thimble of oil from the left pre-compression chamber... looks like the oil pump is wet sumping and maybe I should not have left her on the lateral stand for so long!

If thats the case, you need to confirm that the check valves in the CCI lines are working?
Two strokes, its just that simple.
