Suzuki T350 Piston/ring match confusing... to me

Hello,

I have some alleged t350 pistons Part number 12110-18770 remarked 12110-18500-050. They are stamped 0,05 on top and are 0.5mm over.. Is this the old 69 piston or the 70,71,72. I think it is the 70,71,72. If so, what ring fits. I see various :? numbers out there. I think even more confusing were sold in single set or dual piston sets. Will the GT550 ring 0.05 fit? I tried an std gt550, it looks like it fits with slight up and down play (of course these rings are worn too and if I push then in they become tight, keystone).

What rings will work with this piston?

Fred (Buffalo guy) has a few T350s and was going over all of his options recently when looking for some pistons etc for a rebuild. Why not send him a PM to see what info he has on the topic.

T350s did not seem to make it into restoration in large quantities for some reason, and are definately a smaller number than the 380s.
For the larger sized engines most people on the forum own GT750s, 550s and T500s. The 380 and 350 members are quite low in number and as such so is the information about these models too.

My wife is the one with the T350, which I did a topend rebuild on. To the best of my limited knowledge, the GT550 and T350 share the same rings, but not the pistons. I sourced replacement ring from "Mrs Superdeals" on fleabay. They market an aftermarket brand that is very cost effective, and so far, has done the job admirably. OEM rings show up regularly, as well, and shouldn't be too hard to find. Just make sure that two sets is specified, not two rings. Those bikes are fun, light, and go like stink when you consider they are only 315 cc. Hope this helps. Cheers.

A T350 (actually once was a 1974 GT250) is kind of rare. Sure woke up the Gt250! once 315cc.

I do know that they made at least two pistons for T350. I think that was it too. The early had "thick" rings. The later had "Thin" rings. But all were Keystoned I thought. One person on ebay says he has a set of rings for T350 not keystoned and with the thickness of a GT550 ring at 1.5mm???. I asked him if he was sure and I must have insulted him for no reply. Well he has >10000 sales so needs to focus on maximizing wealth of course, not helping my vinatge adiction.

The reason I acked im to check again was they only have about 7 degrees on one side and hard to see if keystone in my opnion. If he is correct, this simply confuses the matter for me, for I need keystone type

Since it looks like my GT550 ring fits in there OK, keystone, I believe this is the "Thin" type. What the heck only money if I get it wrong. I am good at throwing my money away on old bikes.

:?: Does and have a ring to piston gap for either a T350 or gt550?
:?:

I want to switch from the thick ring to thin ones for I believe the whole idea here was to reduce rattle ring noise. The T350 has a lot of ring noise and I believe is just part of its nature. Oh, I had to put T350 handle bar clamps with rubber bushigs in place of the originals that were on the GT250, else the vibration made my hands tingle numb if a long ride. That fixed it. I would like to rubber mount the motor.... you know the same trick T500 owners do using GT750 mount for example. I wander...

Does and have a ring to piston gap for either a T350 or gt550 ?

Thanks

The early T350 and the T305 used one thick and one thin ring. Later T350 got the same as on the GT 550. Suzuki only made one oversize piston for the T350 (0,5) but I have seen many 1,0and 1,5 oversize rings on ebay beeing listed to fit T350 but that is probably GT550 rings.
If you want more than 0,5 mm you need wiseco pistons ,but they are hard to find.
