Iron Butt BB1500 gold on my '76 GT500
Goter dun! Sent the paperwork in for the IBA Bun Burner 1500 gold, 1500 miles in 24 hours. Did it last weekend on one of my '76 GT500 and a 5 gallon aux tank. the GT500 adds another IBA certificate to the SS1000 and Regular BB1500 it already has.

Congrates!!
How did you sit on that seat for so long, these vintage seats are hard for me to last long, I have to use an Airhawk.

Re: Iron Butt BB1500 gold on my '76 GT500
Thanks!!! Its not called an Iron Butt ride for nuthin!!
Personally I find the seat on my GT and RD MUCH more comfortable than ANY of the new s**t bikes or so called cruisers. I get more fatigued and sore on what should be a cushy seat on my PC800. There is nothing like the sound of that Titan doin 80-85 for 24 hours straight!! It was a wonderful ride, and I have goose bumps now just thinking about it.

That's an average of 62.5mph even if you didn't sleep. That fella is hard to do. Did you have a pocket full of bennies?
I was born with nothing and still have most of it left.

Congratulations !!!!!!!! Now we are starting to add more two strokes to the IBA.. I agree with the seat comfort.. My flat GT seat is more comfortable than any of my other bikes..
With a Honda ST1300, BMW R1100RT and a Kawasaki Concours..All of those seats left some pain, but the GT never has..
Again, congratulations..

Re: Iron Butt BB1500 gold on my '76 GT500
Congratulation!! I did the SS1000 and BB1500 about 18 months ago on my '76 GL1000 but I had the advantage of a Corbin seat.
I was thinking of doing it again on my T500, naked. You've given me the inspiration! What was your oil injection oil consumption rate?
I just checked the picture again and see that you've got the gas can connected to the fuel line. Nice job, at first I just thought you were carrying it as an extra. How did you seal the petcock to the gas can?

@Gyro -- WOW, that's incredible.
As said above, that's an average 62.5mph without ANY stops, how the hell do you do that?

Way to go, gyro !!!
I, personally, can't imagine doing such a ride on a Titan, no matter how good a condition it's in......but that's just me.
You've shown that it IS possible for anyone.......except me.

Both congratulations and 'are you nuts'? Even though you GT is in better shape than mine, I don't know how you were able to do it. From what I have seen, I think I out weigh you, so my seat is good for short trips. I think I will replace the foam from HVC. I have yet to go 70mph much less 80!!! I am not sure I want to chance my engine going that fast, I have a fear of something going BOOM at 80 would not be fun. I too have a Slipstreamer windshield and a JC Whitney trunk, very useful items. I use mine as a daily driver, saves me a lot of gas.

Re: Iron Butt BB1500 gold on my '76 GT500
Sorry I havent been able to answer the questions, been on the road working. I left at 3;30 pm on friday arrived at 1530 mile point at 3:05 pm on sat. rested a little bit/ate and headed home 230 mile so actually I rode 1750 miles in 29 hours. Believe it or not I was NOT sore at all, well my eyes were tired!
I rode all interstate!!! the only way it was possibly doable on the Titan,
Pcola, FL I10 to I 75 south,
across florida on Alligator ally to I95 north in Miami
to Jville, FL on I95 north,
at Jacksonville, Fl I 10 west to north I75
I 75 to Atlanta, Ga then west I20
I 20 to Leeds, AL / Birmingham area
I planed 2 hours for 6 fuel stops and 22 hours riding that averages out to 68 miles per hour!!!!!!!! for 1500 miles in 24 hours.
I did 8 gas/pee/chain lub stops 15/20 minute per stop, two more than I intended so I HAD to run at least 80 miles per hour just to have a chance at making the time/distance. I arrived at Leeds, AL (Barbers Motorsports) with 25 minutes to spare!!
at 70 and around town I get about 550-600 miles per quart of inj. at 80=90 I was getting around 500 miles I used a gallon of injector oil for the entire ride which included the 230 mile trip back home.
I usually get 45 miles per gal at 65=70 miles per hour doing a little drafting behind cars/trucks at 80-90 I was getting right at 30 mpg. thats why I had to have a 5 gal aux tank.
I connected the tank using a rubber plug that you can get from lawn mower shops. the plug goes into a 1/2 inch hole and has a hole you shove a fitting trough that seals itself. I used a petcock fitting that plugs into gas can. worked great!! Run till I go on reserve, open aux tank petcock and put tank from reserve to normal and run till you go on reserve again and GET gas ASAP. I could go 240 miles between stops but had to make some shorter stops for various reasons.
My next ride SOMETIME in the future will be the 50CC IBR and MAYBE return for 100CC on the Titan! Hey I did 1750 in less than 30 hours I think it should be doable???
Thanks for the support and comments!! See you all at the GAP!!!
Allen, I was hoping that I could maybe join you guys on the next trip to Canada?? Maybe we can talk at he KTW meeting??
Here is a pic of the GT500 as I arrived at Mid Ohio Race way, in Lexington, Ohio. Solo trip, one day of travel and camped at the site, helped VJMC while I was there. Dofin

Good for you Dofin thats one heck of an IBA trip. You must be excited as ever to have clocked it in within the time frame.
GT750 seats are very comfortable, and a lot better than they look for long distance rides.
I went from Vancouver to Calgary in one shot on the Buffalo, only stopping for gas along the way. When I arrived my ears were droning of a GT engine and wind sounds but my rear was fine, no issues at all and no screen was used with the eurobend bars either.
I'll never forget that ride, especially going through the Rocky Mountains at night,

Re: Iron Butt BB1500 gold on my '76 GT500
Hey Dofin, I think the 100cc (Jax Fl. to San Diego Ca. back to Jax Fl.) would be fun to do.. Actually really hard I think..
The 50cc was 20 hour days.. The worst part is going across west Texas.. The lack of gas stops.. After coming very close to pushing my bike, (put in 4.52 gallons in a 4.5 gallon tank) meaning only gas left was in the carb bowls.. My fuel cell had been empty for a while..
I used Kerrville Texas as my first stop I also used 7 quarts of CCI oil in 5 days.. Also the many deer standing along the road at night in Texas.. Even worse the ones that are laying in the road that have already been hit.. They are not like Florida deer (small), these are big !! We will talk at the Gap about doing this..
