Bassini aftermarket exhausts for GT 750

Post by VintageKiwi »

Hi .
I have the chance to purchase a set of used Bassini expansion chambers for my Gt750.
Has anyone used these pipes , are they loud , can the mufflers be repacked, and what do they fit like.?
Your thoughts.

Well the Bassani gurus might give you a lot more information than i can but all the ones i saw for enduro bikes back in the 70s/80s had repackable rear baffle units and were quite loud compared to the stock system.
How three of these units would sound all together would be interesting for sure.
Two strokes, its just that simple.

I had a set on my 76 GT750 and I did not think them very loud. They can be repacked as they have removable bafflels.

I love the look of those, with the long stinger / silencer sections :D

I have a Bassani for my 2-stroke Honda 250 single, but haven't installed it so I can't comment on sound, but it has a large C-clip that retains a removable baffle wrapped with fiberglass-like sound deadening material. It will be louder than stock.

I had some Bassoni's for an RD400, unpacked they were pretty loud. Packed they sounded like two stroke chambers (which are a bit loud in comparison to stock exhausts but they are what they are).

For what its worth I liked them alot on the RD. Arne

That is a BMW R90S fairing with a larger bubble and airdam on the windscreen. Blocked a lot of wind.

Back to VintageKiwi's question: Are they loud and can the replacement baffles (whatever brand they are) be repacked?

The ones on my 550 are identical, but they don't have those short stinger tips.

Ed, if you ever decide you'd like to sell those pipes, I would still be very, very interested. They look superb.

cheers, Craig
