carb slide pin

Post by two-stroke-brit »

was fiddling with the carbs today and on reassembly, when i opened the throtle the right hand carb slide was not returning to the bottom properly .
so i removed the slide to find that the guide pin was missing .
i nearly pooped myself thinking of the damage that pin would do if it went inside the motor.
so frantic search with a stick magnet and i found the item on the right in pic .
(pin on left out of spare carb)
now i found it in the water/crap trap over the sprocket
it fits in the hole but is way long and a little bent ( i am thinking PO was an ingenius felow)
so i guess i will be making a replacement tomorrow at lunch.
i will make it short and peen the hole a tad to retain it,
( the spare carb part is slightly smaller.)

A Little Jb Weld on the pin, push it back and you won't have to make a new one.

It worked fine for me when mine popped out.

The red loctite is best if you plan to use that for permanent fixes. It cant fall in the carb because the slide always blocks the pin so there was no need to panic.
Two strokes, its just that simple.
