T500 clutch

Post by GT500Andy »

Has anyone ever replaced the rivets in the clutch outer drum (house) there is a lot of movement between the primary drive gear and the drum! Is it junk or can I repair it?

Hmmmmm -- no ome is answering. I know zero about a T500 but looking at the fiche it is similar to most other setups. I assume by drum you mean the clutch basket which attaches to the primary driven gear with rivets. Some PO must have really thrashed that puppy hard. I have never seen those 'seperate' on any bike.
My advice is post up in the wanted section here. I doubt you can fix that as it is probably assembled with a press the size of your house.
That condition can only get worse and if those rivets ever shear, you will be left stranded -- not to mention how it might grenade other adjacent parts.
My 2 cents. GUYS??
I was born with nothing and still have most of it left.

I have do this on a 125gt, on a 500 it is different, the "silent blocs" (rubber in the clutch) are always good and the plate is always good but the clutch is often used...so don't need to open it, just try to find a good clutch.
