solution to Carb Boot problem used on T350

Post by jabcb »

I had the same problem with a T350. Was not possible to get the boot on the carbs. Had just bought the bike & it was so bad that I checked to make sure it wasn't a boot for a T250. (Didn't know that T250 carbs are a lot smaller.)

Did a lot of research on the web and found a solution.

Used Rubber Renue from MG Chemicals. Used about half a small bottle. Applied it to all surfaces with a paint brush. Then put the boot in a plastic bucket with a air-tight lid. Put some metal in the bottom of the bucket so the boot wouldn't touch the plastic. Let it sit for a few days. Boot was then pliable enough to easily put it on the bike.

Don't know if its an issue, but I used rubber gloves & a well ventilated area.

I use a Sears Craftsman cotter pin extractor tool to align the boot to the carb inlets. Makes alignment quick & easy on my T350.

Hope this helps.
