I am looking for info on cast wheels that will fit easily to my buffalo but keep the rear drum set up.
i am told suzuki gs750 from 78/80 ish will fit the bill.
but the rear seems to be smaller by an inch in diameter 17 not 18.
any pointers would be helpfull.
cheers mark

Nope. The 78 -80 GS750 are disk. Unless you can find a pair of old Lester mags, you are pretty much pissin in the wind. The 17" won't bother you much with a larger tire and maybe longer shocks, but you must convert to rear disk.
Lane uses a 17" on Blue Boy with no issues -- but it is a disk wheel. Morris made an 18" rear mag but it was also a disk setup. That's what is on my bike RedZone.
The easiest way to convert is to get a swinger and complete rear wheel assembly from a GS of that vintage. That way you have the proper brake stay and caliper. Then you are left with mounting a master cylinder and cabbaging up some linkage.
Here's what I did. I used the original cable hole on the brake lever. The linkage is made up from a shifter linkage off a GR. Pivot was made by using a longer rear foot peg bolt, a sleeve so it would tighten up and a bushing on the sleeve. Had to weld on a plate for the MC mount which also mounts the reservoir. All welding was done before powder coating the frame.

Hi All,
I had a 1977 GS750db here in the UK, the uk spec bike had 19" front and 18" rear. Disc's front and back.
Mine had wire wheels originally, which I threw in a skip

I then fitted Lester wheels and eventually Dymags.
So if you scour ebay.uk you might come up with the correct sizes.

Hey Chris, do you still have your buffalo or did you end up selling that?

I remembered that one turned out real nice. I know how you feel to letting one go.

But there's always another down the line if you were to ever get the itch.
