I tried an old e-mail address to a man in France (a board member here), but no response. Does anyone have a good way to contact him? He made excellent reproduction dust boots for GT500's and I would like to get a pair. I do not know his name or 'handle' here on the board. Sorry.......

Yup, I had email contact with François recently - he was most helpful, and pointed me in the right direction. Here was his full email reply when I asked him if he made the replacement gaiters for my T500M :
Hi John,

Sorry, i made dust seals for GT500 but not gaiters for T500.

I give you two addresses in France or you could find this parts :

moret.serge@wanadoo.fr

millardclaude@aol.com

If your boots are number : 51571-11010 , there are two available here :

Hope this helps :D

That's the correct mail address no spaces, and dots not comma.

Yes, he may be on holiday :D

My contact with him was very recent, so I'd be patient, and give it a week.

I see that Badge Replicas in Australia is now selling copies of these dust boots (just scroll down to the bottom of the page) - I've dealt with him in the past and the quality has been quite good, so if you still need these, it might be worth a look. As Reproduction Decals in Canada resells a lot of his product line, I'd suspect they will be able to get them as well if you ask. 8)

I've attached a link to a photo of the dust boots on the Badge Replica site below.

That's great! It is wonderful to have another source for parts. Unlike the T500's, GT500's are a little scarce being only made for 2-3 years. Our man in France will be making some more soon, so I had already promised to get a pair from him. It turns out he is a also $22.00 cheaper than the guy in Australia. So goes the market..... I have dealt with Brian before, good stuff and a very nice person too! :D Iam sure I will buy stuff from Brian in the future. Oldjapanesebikes, thanks for the info, I really appreciate it!

On a (somewhat) note - Greg Clauss Studios is planning to reproduce the T/GT500 foot peg rubbers (43550-16400), and he tells me he will be selling them for quite a bit less than what you pay for other copies currently available. Greg is the fellow who also made the battery protector copies for me to fit the T/GT500's, and is also currently making the rubber hoods that go on the wiring harness on the GT750 for the fan temperature sensor and the temperature gauge sensor plus some other bits. 8)

Ian do you know if he will be reproducing the rubber boot for the GT750 oil injector arm?

I haven't proceeded with this as yet, but its possible someone else may have done so. The original pump rod boot has a metal insert at the pump cover end which would add some complexity to the process if you wanted something that would be a good fit and actually stay in the opening. The back and forth action on the rod I think would tend to pull it loose otherwise. I did buy an NOS one that I can use as a pattern if I do decide to try this.

I am having the boots on the wire harness reproduced for the two temperature sensors. The harness is easy to repair, and you can locate new, correct connectors at several places, but rubber items like these are not available separately.

I'm the guy that contacted Greg Clauss about the T500 footpegs. After reading your earlier posts about the battery protector rubber he made for you, he seemed like the perfect guy. I had been searching everywhere and couldn't locate NOS or reproduction front footpeg rubbers for my GT500 project. He said he would make some if I had a good original to send as a pattern. Mine were worn out, but luckily a friend I met at Vintage Days this year sent me a whole stash of used ones, so I picked out the nicest one, and forwarded it on to Greg. I just got an email from him saying the samples should be done in about a week. I look forward to seeing how they compare to originals.

Make sure and post up the peg info.
