Suzuki 2 Strokes

Hi there Mr PH Wizard. TR Suzukis are almost the opposite end of the spectrum from the auto engined trikes on your web site. What brought you across that divide?

BTW, what's an XR11-20. XR11 I understand is the factory name for a TR750. XR20 was a completely new motor and I thought a different frame, but I don't have a sample to attest to that. Just trying to understand. Frame and tank look very good BTW.

Is that the Ragged Edge bike that I saw on their web site a while ago? Looks like the same pictures.

are they allowed to race two strokes against four strokes now or is that still a no no.
I used to go to a lot of classic races(cadwell park,snetterton and of course oliver mount) and never seen a two stroke race.
at that time the two stroke was considered an unfair advantage.
so I just got to see Triumphs,BSA,Norton ,AJS and others.....

John, come with us to Cadwell Park next weekend (I'll be there 10th Oct) for the final CRMC meet of the season. More ol' smokers than you can shake a stick at, and the Diggertours T200 will be collecting the super lightweight trophy... again .

I think You're right about the name/classification Pedro.

The legend with that picture said '79 but that seemed too late. I should check with Ray Battersby's book to be sure. he republished that recently BTW if you need a copy.

As far as I know the XR20 was 1977, basically the same as very late XR11s (lay-down shocks)..

And yes those are my frame jigs that are being used, and he nicked a jig from my Spondon 500 whilst doing some repairs on it..
Not the best way to earn yourself a reputation, and I believe Spondon will be seeing them in court as soon as they make one..

It's probably better to avoid a legal battle here in the public domain guys.

Ragged Edge, you mention the XR20 (RF750) as being a 77 and being the same as the very late XR20. Obviously the motor was completely new and featured 3 individual cylinders and three geared cranks. AFAIK, it was built in 75 for the 76 season but was canceled.

I just checked Ray Battersby's book and he says that the XR20 never went into production and all but one example were crushed. That one has a frame which is much closer in appearance to the 74 XR11 and at the rear has straight tubes to the shocks from the swingarm pivot. '75 XR11's had that odd curved frame shape at the rear as seen in that Ragged Edge chassis. The frame barcing under the steering head is different to both years of XR11.

Makoto Hase the designer of the XR20 was quoted as saying that " we decided not to use the XR20 because there was something wrong".

Good luck to all with the legal dispute. I hope you all manage to work it out amicably and find a solution that you can all live with. That's not easy to do but it beats the heck out of making attorneys rich. In the end they are the only ones that seem to benefit.
