hi everone i have problem with the oil pump on my 73 buffalo,
it is sticking on the return.
if i flic the throttle it goes almost all the way back but gentle twisting (normal use)
it sticks open (about halfway).
presumably this is just wasting oil and no harm done?.
i think this is why i was using more than average (previos post)
but i looked at the pink possum page and cant see what could wear out.
maybee the return spring got weak over time.
do you know if the springs are available still.
i am just looking for a few pointers.
as i am reluctant to strip it as the weather is fantasic .
and want to ride not wrench.
cheers mark.

Re: sticky oil pump return
Mark,
Try this. Leave it hanging up and then kick the motor over a couple of times with the ignition off. Did the oil pump lever return fully and is it now OK?
All that's happening is that it hangs up about half the time on that face cam. That's how they are designed. Don't try to force it back. Just turn the motor over and watch it self correct.
