My 380 uses a litre of Silkolene Comp 2 injector in around 500 miles of fairly fast riding (that is, half throttle and above). Stock bike with the oil pump set exactly as per factory spec.

How much does yours use? To be honest, I go by the old adage of "oil is cheap, rebuilds are expensive." Even if it is using a little extra oil, it will keep the crank and cylinders well lubed and also help ring sealing and boost compression.

If the plugs aren't fouling, and you don't get people complaining about a 'black mist' when they follow you  , I wouldn't worry about it :)

i am going through a whole tankfull (1.8 litres) in about 500 miles.
it seems like a lot.
but you are right about the cost of the oil compared to a rebuild.

My GT550L used just under 3 liters of injector oil in 5 days this summer! We rode 1984 miles in 5 days, from Toronto Canada, to The Tail of the Dragon and back! Four 10 hr. days at 75 mph on the Interstates, 1 day exploring the roads in Tennessee and North Carolina!

That works out about 160 miles per UK pint (20 fluid ounces) ... let's assume the Buff gives you 35 miles per UK gallon, that makes it equivalent to a premix ratio of 37:1.

It is a little high, true, but not too excessive. Does the cable to the oil pump run free, and allow the pump operating lever to return freely? The adjustment is OK?

If that all checks out, you could maybe try backing off the oil pump adjustment a little at a time (maybe just a single turn of the adjuster, and see how that works).
