Suzuki 2 Strokes

The throttle slides in my VM32s have a vertical hole right through and alongside the centre needle hole.

There is an alloy casting that sits inside the top of the throttle slide and accepts the throttle cable nipple and is held in place on the slide with 2 Philips screws. This casting can fit in two ways. In one way the hole is masked off but rotate the casting 180 deg and the hole is not masked providing a through passage to the top side of the throttle slide.

Which way round do I fit the casting ? Cover the hole or uncover it?

That's a GOOD question Phil. When I assemble mine, I position the shoe to cover the hole but maybe that's not correct. When assembled opposite, the slide lifter rod seems to be at an incorrect angle and that's all I went by. Anxious to hear some input on this. There must be a reason for that extra hole. Hmmmmm. Maybe that's why I had to go 3 over on my pilot jets to get the dang thing to run acceptably.

On the later 550's with the ganged carbs, each slide is lifted by a mechanical arm. The rod I am refering to is #37. It slides through the shoe #11 and the shoe screws the the slide body with #12 (2).

Is the lifter rod concentric with the fuel needle or offset? I seem to remember seeing a throttle body top on one of the diagrams with a 'double entry 'on the top. I can see no virtue in leaving the hole in the throttle slide unblocked.

I also cover the hole because I am afraid by the idea that if the cap is bad screwed, it can do a giving air (prise d'air en français), very bad for the motor.
