Hello guys,

Just join the list as I bought myself a little b'day gift; a -72 T500...
I was "on" this bike for some months when the previous owner started to hear some gearbox noises and rebuilded the engine: crank seals/bearings, pistons and newer gears... (I have a theory about the "wall building" in the case but maybe as a starter, it not a good idea to present it for now!!! lets say that there is almost 1800cc of oil in the transmission and everyting is A OK!). The bike is really sweet, more than I remembered it back then, and ... hard to say for a triple Kawie man as I have been for 35 years (3 currently in the garage!!), better built than other Japanese 2 strokes!!!!

Seeing the featured T500 on the current Motorcycle Classic I wonder if a -72 Titan does have an air pump or not?? mine does not have the "hooks" on the frame and the one in the mag has one?? Fought it was only on the older models??

Pictures of T500 are there:

Hi and welcome to the family. That's a nice clean example that you have there. The T500 is a nice bike to ride (I had mine out today, taking the wife for a day out), comfortable and very reliable. I have an H1A and the bikes are very different indeed. Just enjoy the differences, one doesn't have to be better than the other. I ride the Suzuki and Kawasaki for different reasons ... depending on which part of my personality is dominant at the time 8)

probably the 68/69 cobras might have the pumps but certaianly not the J model cause I had one in 72!

the T250/350 were the only ones to have a pump ..discarded later years.

The pumps were listed as an available option (09821-00004) right till the end, along with the tire levers, although looking at my '77 I'm wondering where it would have been put ? Anyone have a picture of it on their bike ? 8)

Philippe,
I haven't met you yet but I was on the last Moto Melee on my Titan. Glad to see the beautiful one that you picked up and looking forward to meeting you sometime around SF.
My 69 has the hooks for the air pump, but of the many Titans I've seen or had, I have never seen any that had the optional air pump.
Cheers,
Jason.

You might need to check the oil level for the trans, I think it is supposed to be 1400cc too much may cause problems......

I saw you at the start of the Melee...still limping and with a dead arm....I had my Beagle on a leash. Your bike was beautiful but I heard you had some trobles?

Ah, yes, I remember seeing you help send everyone off that morning.

I actually told the forum about the Melee as the 'True test of my T500' in a thread a while back:
viewtopic.php?f=2&t=3019" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

My running issues seem to be fairly well sorted at the moment, but they did leave me stopped in one of the dirt/gravel seconds on a uphill in 100+ heat for a hour or so on the first day. I am hoping to get some shake down runs in over the next few weekends to get her fully sorted. There is no way I'm going to miss a single mile of the next Melee!

Sorry to hear that you are still recovering from that incident last year, but I am very very glad you are on the mend.

The Sundial forums here have been an amazing resource for me since I think as far back as '98? Glad you found your way here, and I'm sure it will treat you as nicely as it has me!

I finally went to see your pictures...real nice! I did a few Melee (Commando, Trident, Egli Vincent/Commando, H1 Kawie) and my wife too (SL350 and Cb450)... on a normal year we do the SoCatt TT (http://www.socaltt.com/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;) and the NorCal TT (next weekend!)... Last year I did the 3 on the H1... lots of oil used!
I am hoping to be back on for next year...Philippe

i have a pump on my 1970 T500III, its useless, but looks good. i bought a black bike pump, took it apart and cut it down then reinstalled the spring to hold it extended, then put it on the tabs.

So I'm still curious as to where it goes ? Do you happen to have a photo of it installed ?
