Suzuki 2 Strokes

I just purchased a GT500. The owner inherited it and did not know anything about it. It only has 6k miles on it. I put a little bit of fuel in the tank and got it running rode great. Then I went to take it home and could not get it running again. I see a few things wrong with it. It has a dent in the gas tank and a leak coming from where the petcock connects to the tank. There is also 2stroke oil on the engine possible leaking from one of the lines. Hopefully all of these problems can be fixed rather easily. I will post pics as soon as I get her home.

Oh wow, how did your kickstarter get moved to the wrong side?

according to my service manual that's the side its supposed to be on. Well at least for the t500-II and GT500A.

Bigger pictures would only make me cry. That one is the exact same model and color as my GT500A. Mine had a little over 9000 miles on it when I got it. However it was not as rough as yours. If my eyes are not lying to me, it looks like you have an airfilter assembly from an earlier model. I think the '75 and up models had the twin foam rubber socks on a metal 'T' frame, not a pleated paper one. You do have a lot of work ahead, but it will be worth it. We will try to help you as much as we can. I have a 'sticky' here for the CDI unit if you need a replacement for example. The kickstarter has always been on the left for the entire production run of the T/GT500's..........

Yea it has some sort of aftermarket setup for the intake a k&n but even the k&n looks pretty old just by the lettering. I am having problems getting the air out of the left side oil injector lines. So I am ordering new washers. Hopefully thats it. I have a service manual but I will surely be asking questions. Since this is my first bike and first older vehicle I have worked on.

On the oil lines, if you have them loose, try to back flush with some kind of solvent (mild) with a syringe in the engine end to make sure the check valves (ball) are not stuck closed.

thanks but i finally got it running what a pain in the butt hope it never breaks again. Don't really know what fixed it though maybe some dirt came loose.
