Hey guys, great site and will be very helpful for sure.
I have here a very nice 1973 Suzuki GT 750 Triple. Ser. No. GT750K34394 Engine Ser. No. GT750-52259
Everything seems to be in good working order (haven't even started it,keys didn't arrive yet...)
Any info on the vin and engine will be appreciate it since this is my first triple, I also have a GT380 coming tomorrow the 9th of August, hopefully a GT550 later this week if I can find it.
I sold a car and decided to collect the triples w/ the proceeds, a new found love!
First to arrive was the water buffalo, a little research and I found out that the engine doesn't seem to be stock 73, engine numbers above says 74 maybe??
Could it be that it is stock? I doubt it but then again I have seen anomalies in cars so why not bikes!?
The front fender does not have the double support, also incorrect or they had both options??
I opened the radiator cap and noticed a small amount of an oily film floating....used a long screwdriver to get it wet and when I wiped it ,paper towel got oily dirty...
I immediately cursed the seller thinking that he didn't disclosed a blown head gasket.....but then again, is it??! Can I used automobile diagnostic methods on this water liquid coolant vintage ?!
Is it all over? can I even start this thing when I get the keys? am I freaking out too soon?!
I really will have plenty of questions on all my 3 triples, but this is my first one guys, appreciate the help and input.
from the sunshine state and the magic city.

You've got a 1973 frame with a 1974 engine.
How much oil is in the neck? Just a sheen on top or is it full of oil? After you get the keys, start her up and look for bubbles in the filler neck. No bubbles, no problem. It could be just lube/oil from the previous owner's work on the engine.
Welcome to the board!
Cliff.

Mine has always had a little oily film in the top of the filler neck, no worries unless it's a LOT of oil.

Thank you Cliff and Barry for the speedy comments, wow am I kind of relived...I say kind of because I haven't started her up yet, hopefully today the keys will arrive.
It was very little sheen and at the edges not totally blacked out, nothing BP like
I guess the bubble test will help, so I open the radiator cap and start her up and look for bubbles? how long will it take if any problems do exist?
I was hoping they had a 73 unique engine in there....lol...yeah right, no lotto for me I guess.
I see a lot of S on the bolts, so most are original.......but I think the front end has been replaced, only one disc brake and the turn signals do not have reflectors on the sides, looks like a newer front and they left one complete brake assembly out, the left side.
I already found and purchased a lot of the brake parts to fix her up.......hard to find that left caliper...
Thanks again and if ever in Miami please let me know before, I am looking to start a GT club, not sure who has them around here.........maybe I'll be the only member.....lol....
Take care guys!
Adrian

Adrian,
Do you have any pictures of the bike we could see? That might help us to identify what you have there.

My '76 bike had bad forks when I got it so I replaced them with '73 models that turned up on Ebay. They have an additional bolt hole on the ears where the front fender bolts on that the later ones don't have, plus made for fork gators instead of wipers.

wow, super shiny and clean, makes me wanna restore mine even more.
I bought a original never opened/used passenger handrail(mine doesn't have one), really nice but pricey....from UK....they have some hard to find parts but the money conversion sometimes kills the deal....but I have found even the original owners manual amongst other things that you just can't find here on our E-Bay.
Anyhow....good news, I just got the keys from the mail guy and will start her up later, got butterflies already...lol.
take care ya'll

sorry guys, been kind of busy at work and with the bikes.
I did start the 750,(darn key wouldn't turn for at least 45 minutes, then suddenly turned freely).
It started rather quickly (nothing like pushing a simple button huh!)
but in my opinion it smokes a lot, it obviously need to have all carbs redone, the center one leaks fuel.
I rode it around the block for a while, gears are fine, brake is fine even w/ one disc only.
I have this funny feeling that the handlebars aren't straight, I looked and one triple tree on top, left side is broken.
Probably during shipping....
It doesn't seem to be the cause of not going straight, maybe it's just me.....I ride a 900 custom everyday to work and it's low and you don't look down on the road or forks.....the GT is a high seating position a.....I am just not sure what the feeling is all about....I got a new triple tree already (ebay is the best SOMETIMES....)
After some tuning and fixing she should be a fine K
I have now completed my intended collection, I bought a 76 GT550, black, in pristine condition.
I promise I will post the pictures on my Photobucket account for all to see.
The GT380 is also in a super original condition, I see all the original S bolts everywhere.
She needs good cleaning specially the carbs.....super hard to start her up.
Pictures will be up soon!
