great service

Post by two-stroke-brit »

i had a hard time finding a shop in houston that would dyno my buffalo and had the sensors needed to check the air/feul ratios etc.
but metricmotorcycles.com was recomended, Andy Marcer was very helpful and very knowledgable about the old smokers and we got it tuned up sweet.
She will never be pretty but hoping she will be a fun ride.

Mark,

What settings/jets did you end up with and any ideas how much HP it makes? It gives us a sort of benchmark if you will.

hi tezer, i had sent you a pm with all the specs, but for general cosumption here it is.
stock motor.
jemco expansion chambers.
k&n air filters.
pilot jet upto #35.
main jet upto #122.
needle position left on the center clip (no change)
needle jet p4 on all three cylinders.
timming is retarded two degrees.
i am sure a little more could be had with thinner head gasket and other little things.

motor is still a little rich but on the safe side of things.
max bhp is 60@6500 rpm
what i really went for was to be confident that it was in as good a state of tune as resonably possible.
the bike is much more responsive and runs and iddles better than before.

Mark, you took the bike in and they performed the tune up, by changing jets and needle position? And checking the timing?

I took a bike to them about a year ago to synch the carbs. I cannot remember the fellow's name, he was Aussie or Kiwi, I think, and he cursed nonstop. He was really pissed. Not sure what about, but he was not in a good mood. After your recommendation, I may take the 380 in and see if they can get it running better. I will ask for Andy, and mention your name.

So, I take it you are in the Houston area? I'm in Pearland.

hi scorch, yep andy is the owner/doitall guy ,he is a little stressed ,comes with running the whole thing himself,
basicaly i set the bike up to the setting advised by helpfull people on the board with a view to getting it dynoed to check the air/fuel setup knowing i would be on the rich/safe side of things and he basicaly did a preliminary test and i was way off ,he advised on what size to go to which i fitted the jets myself while he did something else ,them we did a propper test which reveled the needle adjustment wanted ,and i did said change and we tested again.
all in all i found him very helpful and knowledgeable and i learned alot.
i had already set the timing to 2 degrees retarded.( newtronics-soooo easy-best $200 i ever spent ).
i live on the west side of houston (kirkwood/memorial drive near I-10)
if i can be of any help or questions (but i am points chalenged). pm me as i am in your area.
cheers mark

Ok, I understand. I have no doubts he's a good guy.

Yeah, we need to get together some time. I can be reached at 281-460-four76three. I'm starting a second job next week, so I won't have as much time off as before, but we can work something out.

cheers

Mate!! You are sadly in need of some very quick education.
Basically Kiwi's clip their words, Aussie's tend to drag their words out.
There you go, you'll be right now. :)

Sith Ifrikaan is nuttin like Orstalian. Kiwis are like Canadians, everyone else thinks they are the same, but they really are different. besides, in Kiwi land there are 3 million people and 60 millions sheep - need I say more.

And way too funny. I was on the phone to the Australian Tax office the other evening and the guy at teh ATO announces that his name is Bruce. G'day Bruce....No way. But true.
