Oil Pump Gasket
I have an oil leak somewhere around the oil pump that I can't seem to find. I've replaced all the crush washers at all the oil line fittings and I've checked the oil lines to ensure there are no cracks. I can't make out the parts list very well so my question is there a gasket or O ring under the oil pump where it bolts to the rear engine case? Is this part available or can I expect to have to make it myself.
Thanks
Thanks

Yep ,there's a gasket between the pump and the housing. If it's 2 stroke oil your leaking I doubt if its this gasket causing it. Chances are its one of the two tiny oil seals in the pump itself. There was a thread on this board about the sizing of these oil seals. I'll try and track it down

Correct a T500M to be exact.parksie wrote:BTW.. The above assumes we are talking about a T500
Thanks. I'll root around and look for the thread as well but the search engine is a little undiscriminating at times.

Is this the link you are referring to? I should be able to find the part numbers for the seals in my parts book. The thread says the lower seal is still available from Suzuki and the top one might be found at a bearing supply house.
Thanks.

I removed the oil injection pump tonight and this is what I found. the area around the bottom of the tach drive coupling was full of injection oil but it looks like the gasket should keep that stuff contained. The oil pump bolts were tight but it would appear as though the lower seal is definitely leaking. Should that coupling area be dry of oil?

There should be a little oil around the tach coupling from the cable, not injector oil though. If there is a lot of oil or grease at the coupling, the 'o' ring in the bottom of the tach cable might be damaged. If you have injector oil coming out the bottom too, then it seems both seals have failed. The gasket is mainly to contain transmission oil from leaking there as it is splashed around by the gears. On that one, if you wanted to, you can make a gasket to replace it with or buy one....

Someone mentioned that the bottom seal was still available but my Dealer could not find the part of the number. Does anyone have any info on this seal? I went to a local bearing supply house today and they were able to source the top seal for me but couldn't find the lower seal. I think it's the lower seal that is causing my problem.

Hi, yep I have the part numbers for the seals. I will post them in a day or so and send them on to Mike.
The bottom seal in the oil pump is the same one that sets in the right case cover and supports the clutch Push piece/push rod. part #09284-10002.
Suzuki didnt rebuild the oil pump it was a replacement part so the parts arent in a break down. I went to a bearing place and they helped me pick out a replacement for the upper seal. this is the one we normally find that leaks, more than likely the lower one also starts leaking but it drips in to the tranny and we dont figure it out??
I will get the upper seal part number sunday. I have been running the replacement upper seal for the last year and have had no oil seeping!

Re: Oil Pump Gasket
That upper seal I found is a CR 8mm X 14mm X 4mm HMS1 R type seal, SKF part #3036.
The O-ring I replaced with one I found at the hardware store. I just looked through the ones they had till I found one that fit on the upper bearing/bushing insert.
If you need some info on removing the machined aluminum insert that holds the upper seal let me know. You will have to get that out is you want to replace the lower seal.
