new headlight querry

i just installed a new HID 
headlight on the buffalo and a strange think happens now when using the lights the temp gage reads higher than with them off.
also if i leave the blinker on for an extended perriod the same thing happens .
i dont know if this was happeng before and i just didnt see it.
but if i use the lights/blinker the temp goes towards the red but as soon as i turn it off the gage goes back to the center.
i am guessing the motor is not getting warmer then cooler so.
