hi guys ,i am suffering from a strange malady,
incontenant buffalo carbs

i have been using the bike to ride to work to try an hurry along the breakin of the new cylinders etc.
i leave at 5am and regulary but not always the center and/or righthand carb flood when i pull up to the first light and then on until i get to work (7 miles).
i turn it off and leave it until lunchtime when i use it again and it never floods until the next morning.
it is texas and 75 degrees at 5am ,95 by lunchtime.
i have had the carbs apart so often i can do it in my sleep.
i have also changed the float valves to no avail.
any clues

Mark did you inspect the brass seats the float valves sit in??? If the seat is compromised a new valve wont fully cure the problem.

thanks allan you may be on to something as i did change the left hand seat along with the valve.
will swap out the others this weekend,

Dont forget the little red gaskets need to be good too, if not, well more leaking will come your way.

hi i think i have finaly sorted it ,
(all the carbs have new valves and seats now)
still floods

then i remembered reading on here that someone had a damaged float that caused intermitant flooding so i changed out the float and presto fixo .
not flooding now .

i should wait for a week of use without incident to pronounce total success.
plenty of false dawns when i thought i had fixed it before.

Mark what can i say, im shaking my head here,,,,, bad seats AND leaky floats. Those are brass floats, were they physically damaged or did they look good???

Thats on my personal list when i have the carbs apart .. to give the floats a shake to hear if there is gas inside them . If there is .. time to replace

I totally agree there Dave, thats why I'm wondering if they were leaking and had in gas how Mark could have missed it.

the floats looked ok to me and i didnt notice any signs of damage, but it was worth a try and it worked.
i also dont understand how the prob would be so intermitant but my fingers are still crossed.
i should know if it stays good for a while.
but where would the fun be in that.

is the gap a bi anual event ,sping and fall ?
