Paint

Post by robert campbell »

Getting ready to have the tank and side covers painted. The paint on the tank edge was so poorly applied you could take a razor blade and peel it off. And the orginal paint was nearly perfect.

The bike is a 1975 GT-750M so my best guess is this is candy gypsy red. Took it down to my local paint suppler and they used their camera and came up with a Datsun color from 1982, code 930 or PPG-61023. Looks darn close to me!!

What color tank decals? Light grey?

Do the above numbers look close to anyone elses research?

Nissan 1982 paint code is 930. PPG is 61023. Paint was called "Sunfire".

Can't comment on the paint code thing, Robert, but you want to try ReproductionDecals.com for the striping kit. They may be able to help you out with which colour you need.

I'm guessing dark gray or black....or maybe two tone silver....but that's just a bunch of guesses. It's been sooooo long......
