Suzuki 2 Strokes

OK, done it again from this endless taking apart and putting back together business. Stripped out one of the pump holes. I'm thinking going with just the one good bolt holding the thing on IS NOT wise. Stripped one will have a bit of resistance when tightening before it spins out loose. Being the dummy novice that I seem to be, shall I attempt a re-tap or take it somewhere? I do know I have to take the cover back off to do this. (Do know that much). Shall I go with some sort of self tapping bolt OR tap it out bigger and use next size up? OR...............Just take it somewhere knowing how much I've screwed (no pun) this thing up thus far?? buy yourself a helicoil kit. or better yet timeserts. it's easy and next to free once you've laid out money for the kit.

OK, tons of metric time-set kits on ebay. Any recommendation for which kit to buy to cover most Vintage bike needs that may arise in the future??

My metric heli-coil 'starter' kit actually came from Harbour Freight in the US - cheap as chips, but you get what you pay for. For replacement coils, and also for Time Sert kits, as well as Big Sert Kits, I have been buying from this guy as the prices generally are much better than what I have seen locally here in Canada, even with the added shipping costs and exchange rates.

I take it thats a 6mmx1.00 bolt or cross head screw. If you go to your local Napa dealer they sell the basic kits for a reasonable amount of money and you get a few inserts in the bag as well as the tools.

Just ask for a metric thread repair kit. Can't go wrong with that!

Most auto parts stores carry 6mm heli-coil kits. Time-serts are more expensive (and rightfully so), and less commanly found.
