Suzuki 2 Strokes

I spotted this one just around the corner
It is from Germany and come (gift, I think) within some used cars from there which an old friend of mine is selling.
Same old questions & answers and turned out he's asking € 2000.
10000 km, engine locked solid, bike seems complete.
Any suggestions, before I loose my mind?

Local market drives the price so it would be good to hear from some Europeans on what they think.

Over here that would be considered way over the top (about $3000 CDN ) especially for something that's locked and will need perhaps another $1500 CDN in repairs just on the engine.

Rocky, in England that bike would be 1000 euro at the absolute maximum, I do not think the chrome & paint is good enough to deserve a higher price ....

I don't think the GT750 ever had that rear fender.....it looks like a CObra rear fender. With a locked-up engine, you can expect to rebuild the crankshaft, so I'd say that should determine your price. Overall, it looks pretty salvagable, but I don't know what you will have to pay for crank rebuild, etc.

Lane, I can assure it is the right rear fender for the German market only...Fritz model, you Know...and if you look carefully you can see also the particular plug pipes with a bunch of holes, maybe to reduce radio interference or whatever; our German neiboroughs ever got their "strange" needs (absit iniuria verbis!!!)
High price, I know, especially if (if?) the engine will need deep care....I must wait and see if the guy "soften".
Meanwhile, I have to sew the wallet and continuosly repeat to myself: "I don't want that bike.... I don't want that bike.... "

Rocky, if the fender is correct, then you will just HAVE to buy it! Sorry about that!

Lane Rocky is correct, that rear fender was specifically for the German market so now he has to buy it.
I'm looking at the big wet spot under the bike and thinking shes not in the mood for anything right now,,LOLOLOL.
Rocky the good news is I know where you can get the gauges restored when that moment comes around in the restoration.

Stop it all, the used cars seller (my friend) told me, believe it or not, he sold the Buffalo at € 3900 to someone in Sardinia.
Please tell me this isn't for real....things are getting worse if someone is able to pay that amount for a piece of rusted iron!

Rocky if thats the case and the price is 100% correct, thats a fair chunk of change.
Sardinia huh??? thats a bit out of the beaten path, it must be a collector or similar person whos got serious cash for a ground up resto.
That bike will need a bit of work to bring it back to some former glory.

Anyone who paid that much for a locked-up-engined-GT750 hasn't done his homework. He has too much money to throw away.

Rocky, don't feel bad about this one; the buyer will pay........

OK - I'm impressed. That's about $5700 CDN for something that still needs a ton of cash to make it go A similar bike here would get you possibly €400 - if you were lucky and if the buyer knew nothing about what they were buying

Yep .. that old girl was a bit on the rough side and would take a bit of $$$$ to get her back in shape .

That eclipses the prices that GT's (in that condition) are starting to pull down here as well .

There was one for sale here in Oz a while back.
It wasn't seized, just a bike that had been somewhat restored, but not too well - there was quite a bit wrong and/or missing (including a curiously blue plastic rad guard ).
The owner must have been smoking something weird, the starting price was AU$8500...

Whoever has bought the german-model bike has a big job on his hands and a lot more to spend.

The phrase 'over-capitalization' comes to mind...
