I just undid the one on my old GT550 motor by holding it with a gloved hand and using an impact wrench. You might use a strap wrench also as a "hold back".

For regular hand tools you could weld a handle on an old steel plate and use that to hold the hub while loosening the nut.

A steel plate and a pair of thin vise-grips will also work, but in my mind, the air wrench is a MUST.

You really should get a clutch holding tool. John "bighole" Fry made a nunch of them to the Pinkpossum design .

PM him and see if he has any left or if he can make one for you. They are cheap and effective and much better than the vice grip types and they prevent damage to the clutch drum and basket.

A brilliant design, well executed.

thanks
