Suzuki 2 Strokes

Hi Guys,
I have a strong yearning for a GT750 and one has just appeared on my local version of ebay. It is a 73 and was completely restored a few years back. The guy says it's got a NOS pipe on the right and two others have been refurbished. He apparently redid the whole motor with all the seals etc - but that is a few years ago now.

I've spoken to the owner and he has experience doing up these beasts. (He sold a mate of mine a 72 with chambers and that runs sweetly). This one has a different clutch lever due to his dodgy hand and a repainted tank - he apparently doesn't like the original design on the tank!

Anyhow, he's not interested in taking less than his asking price ( ). It's not too sky-high (for around here) if it's as good as he says it is. As we all know, to completely redo these bikes costs a whack. Also, there aren't too many J and K models down here.

Would you guys mind having a look at the link and giving me your opinions on whether it looks correct for a 73 and your overall impressions?

She's a beauty all right Mike and they must be rare there all right at 10,000$ ouch !!!

Mike its all relative to the present local market value and at the current NZ exchange rate thats not too bad a price.
Recently 72s and 73s have been selling upwards of $5000.00 on US Fleabay and they have not been as CLEAN as that bike in the pics.
The 73s are the rarest of all the Buffalo bikes since that year had the least sales so you are in fact buying an item of appreciating value.
The bike looks good, two things not 100% are the tank striping is not completely correct and the master cylinder top cap isnt correct either.
If you like the bike enough to part with the funds by all means go for it, however i'd strongly recommend you to ride it for at least an hour before the sale.
This will allow you to check it over completely on the road, cooling system, mechanicals, electrical etc.

It's a nice looker, but take Allan's advice and check it out well.

Hi Mike.

I have seen this bike on trade me,
It looks great, just to let you know what it costs here to do up a engine.
Crank rebuild/ rebore -$800 that is me supplying all the parts, then finding someone who knows about triple cranks, I found boss engineering in Wanganui excellent.
To rebuild the pipes $500 each.
To save all the grey hair it is a ok deal.

Thanks for the advice guys. I thought about it a bit too long and someone stumped up with the cash about 3 hours before I made my approach. Kicking myself now as she looked lovely but you snooze, you lose I guess.

The search will continue but I think the pickings are quite slim in our little isles.

Oh noo, dont you just hate when that sort of thing happens. Well if you see the new owner ask for first refusal when and if they ever decide to sell it.
You never know what bikes will come back around for you to get a second chance at buying.
