Can anyone tell me where I can purchase air filters and foam covers for a 1972 GT380? I am having a difficult time locating them.

Thanks,

Hmmm.....now there's a good question. The J/K models use a totally different setup than the later models, unfortunately.
I'd start with fleabay but you'll probably end up buying the whole airbox assembly.....and end up with a ratty foam element in the end....but you will get the frame.
Assuming the frame is in good shape, you can then buy the bulk filter foam from your local backstreet dealer and fabricate a new element for your frame. Best bet for bulk foam is a place that caters to dirt bike guys. UNI makes a fine grade bulk foam that works perfect for street bikes. See UNI's site here for their BF-1 bulk foam at the top of the page.....

I'd be betting that the elements have long been NLA from Suzuki.

So have I. I glue it together with hot-glue, and back that up with good RTV.

Moto Air lists a part number for a foam cover to fit that model and year bike (their number 1052). I've bought GT750 filters directly from them before - nice fit and well made.

I see they list filters for the T & GT500, how did you order? did you email them or phone?

You can also stitch foam on a machine, cut the sheet to size and then run a few passes on the joint in the sewing machine and youre good to go.
On a paper element with a mesh frame such as on the early T500s and GT750s you cut the old paper away and then add the filter foam, preferably a two stage setup with the fine foam on first and the coarser top layer.

I just called them.

Note that for the GT500, filters are still available from Suzuki in the US and presumably elsewhere also (part number 13780-15310).

Thanks for the link, Ian. They have a lotta good stuff on there.
I wonder if the listing 1051 for the 380 (model unspecified) would also fit the later 550's.....in case I'd ever need a new set of foams..... :?
