Can anyone help me out with the proper disassebly steps fo these forks? I am pulling them apart to blast and polish the lowers and then put in new seals.

So far I drained the fluid, removed the lower bolt holding on damper rod, removed the inner spring and c-clip over top of the seal. I can't figure out how to remove the inner tube and seal? Do I just need to pull up on the inner tube hard enough to pop the seal out or what should I do next?

Use the lower leg just like a slide hammer. Move it all the way up, then pull down quickly, but not too hard to pop it loose. Put something soft below it so it will not get damaged when it comes loose. What methods are you going to use to polish the legs with. I need to do mine too. Also what fork boots are you going to use? I had to modify some on a pair for a GT750. I want to get a set from the board member in France who makes excellent repros.

I a purchased a set of repro covers from Francious. Here is his email....fr.lavallee@free.fr. He was great to deal with and shipped them quickly. They are nice quality.

I was thinking I could pop the seals out in the way you mentioned, but i didn't want to force it too much without checking with someone that has already done it before. I did it this way on my CB750.

I plan to bead blast the lowers, sand with a few different fine grades (180-400 or so)and the polish using my buff wheel.
