Ok, I'm new to the game here. I saw the Titian 500 that "The Whit" restored. I grew up with him and was so impressed that I just had to give this a try. Well I'm comitted now, I recently purchased a 1972 GT380 and it had been wrecked so I went and purchased another and they are both completely dismantled in my garage.
Here is my issue, on both the frames the right front foot peg has been broken off. On one the mounting piece is completely gone and the other it has bee re-welded and is not straight and is a sloppy weld. I am looking at taking both these frames to the machine shop to have this corrected before the paint is applied. Can anyone tell me what the length of this piece should be for the proper setup for the brake petal and the footpeg? Also, is this piece a continous diameter from the frame to where the foot peg attaches? I look forward to resurecting one if not both of the bikes.
Thanks,
John D. Hood

Thanks for the reply regarding the footped. After looking at the picture it appears to be about a 1975 or later model. On the 1972 there is a piece that comes out from the frame on which the brake petal goes and the foot peg bolts onto this piece right against the brake petal.Suzsmokeyallan wrote:John does this photo help you to see what it should look like.
You can see this setup on the schematic on bikebandit.com.
Thanks for the input.

Then it follows the same pattern as the 72 buffalo of first issue late 71 early 72. I dont have any of those pics for a 380 close up but basically the shaft sticks out the frame the brake pedal slides over it and the footrest has a cross slot that matches the shaft end with a bolt through it.
The bolt keeps the footrest on and maintains the space for the pedal to fit snugly on the shaft.

I take it you have to make a shaft to weld on??? dont forget to make sure they get the cross slot oriented so the footpeg is at the correct angle and it does not end up with the peg higher or lower than the left side.
You probably have all this figured already but i just thought id mention it.
