OK, I 'bragged' somewhat about my homebuilt CDI. After two years of running, it quit. Now I get to do one of the beauties of this thing, FIX IT!! Try that with an OEM. RNGDNG I again must thank you for the used OEM CDI for my GT500. I will be using it until I fix the homebuilt unit. It might just be my questionable soldering, if not, I should be able to determine exactly which part failed, and replace it. I am also going to assemble another complete unit with an alternative SCR that Phil C wanted me to use. Even if I did not have an OEM as a back up, building two for the price of one OEM is still a bargain, especially since these are re-buildable. Also I am editing the schematic so it can be posted like I promised, so others with GT500's can have an alternative to another part for their bikes. When I determine the cause of failure, I will post that and if it is an unknown reason for the failure, maybe Phil C can advise of an upgraded part..... Stay tuned!

Is it a fixed timing direct replacement and if so would different triggers still work and is it possible to put three in a set for a triple?

Or does it use the wave generated by the low/high speed coils to drive it?

There's a few systems available for the K make triples and each model seems to be different, but there isn't much available for the triples.

I'd ideally like a magnetically triggered, digital system with PC link for mapping the curve at a low price, but I never claimed that my demands were reasonable.

The CDI for the GT500 is a very simple, basic circuit. It is magnetically triggered by two magnets on the rotor. There are two coils on the stator that provide power to the ignition, no battery needed. Theoretically it could trigger a triple, a four, even a single. First problem is power to run it, next is the two magnets to trigger it. Easier on a four than a triple. There are several aftermarket units for triples, (Kawasaki and Suzuki) that would soooo much easier to use than to try and adapt this one! Sorry to burst your bubble, but I need to be honest with you on that. I have already begun constructing a new unit, and probably this weekend I will take the failed unit apart to determine what went out and FIX IT. Sorry OEM!!!! Suzuki will not be getting $113.00 min for one of their CDI boxes from me.
