Just fitted Avon AM26 Roadriders to my 380, very grippy, zero white-lining.

Mind you, anything would be better than the set of Mr Shin's recycled condoms that were originally fitted :D

The fact is the original tyres were placed onto the rims to protect the chrome from being scratched by the road, nothing more.
Bridgestone Spitfires are really good value for the money, Lane has good taste.

Allan,

That was funny. Sure we all used to call them "rim protectors" but in reality, many road tests of the time were done with OEM tires and they were sold with OEM tires on them.

I'm sure that some discerning riders swapped them for something with rubber in the compound, but I'd venture to suggest that most rode on them until they wore out. I had a couple of Suzuki wheels with what appear to be original hard as heck tires on them. of course those bikes didn't do to many miles since the seventies, but still...

And I use BT45s on the latest bike.

What size does the front tire convert to from a 3.25x19 in todays sizing ? :?:

On my GT750 I am using Avon Roadriders. 90-90/19 front and 120-90/18 rear. They work fantastic. They do not slip but do turn in quicker than most tires, do not let this fool you as there is a larger contact patch when leaned over.

On my GT750A and RE5 bikes with the Spitfires i use a 100/90x19 up front and a 120/90x18 out back. They look about one size up from the old inch sizes but work well in my opinion.
Depending on the manufacturer a 325x19 today is close to a 90/90x19, but some metric sized brands like Metzeler are slightly under the old inch dimensions while others like Bridgestone are slightly over when compared size for size.

THANKS Guys

I went today to order a tire but did not know how to convert the size.

I have a BRIDGESTONE - SPITFIRE - 11 R size 120/90-18 in the rear on my bike already to my surprise :D
So now i just need to get the front.
Suzsmokeyallen do you say i should use a 100/90 x19 SPITFIRE ?

Thanks to all your replys guys :D

Well its a matter of taste and how you want the bike to look ,i like the 100 up front and Eric likes the 90, so its really up to you.
Also check the age stamped on your tyres, anything over 7 years even though it looks new should be replaced for safety reasons.

I too use the Spitfires on both a 550 and a 750, and am really pleased with them. Best deal I found the last ones I bought was at Tires Unlimited. http://www.tiresunlimited.com/ALL%20TIR ... re_s11.htm
Ordered them on a Friday, they were delivered to the house the following Tues.

I'm going to the Spitfires, I had a set of Dunlop GT501's, the first rear lasted 5000 miles and I replaced it with another. The front only made it about 7000 so I put a 100/90-19 S-11 on it, I'll get a rear when the back needs it.

Barry i always laugh when H2Rick talks about those dungflop tyres, its again what personal taste dictates so im not bashing any brand just observing.
By the way did you reach RB about GT seat foam and possibly Titan ones as well ????
