Fixing the linkage, a pic at last.

Post by Suzsmokeyallan »

Heres a pic of what i did to my 76 carb linkage. It was worn out as they all do but the hoop part was still on the carb arm and in good shape.
I got a nylon nut thats just a bit narrower than the hoops width and trimmed the hex ends slightly so it would just fit inside the hoop. I then drilled the hole out in the nut so the threaded linkage arm could just slide through it.
Then two stainless countersunk screw relieving caps of the type as used for a tarp are placed on each side of the hoop with the nylon nut in between them.
The sunken part of the caps keeps the spring and nut always pulling towards the centre of the washers while the hex nut inside the hoop keeps the washers centred on the hoop.
A nylock nut keeps the whole thing together and does the pump adjusting, it looks like this when its done.

Two strokes, its just that simple.
