Can you clarify your question ? In the case of a rebore in a cast iron sleeve, they are honed to finish them as a part of the process - and as well the ports are chamfered. Is that what you were asking ?

The answer is "it depends".

If the new barrels are bored and honed to take a stock sized piston and the bores are in good shape, the answer is no.

If the bores were bored but not honed, so that the dealer could finish them to the right clearances the answer would be yes.

Clean the bores and check piston to bore clearance. If the bores look honed and the clearances are fine, just fit them.

and as well the ports are chamfered.
I'd be careful about that assumption, Ian.
Rather, "sometimes the ports are chamfered"....if the guy who's doing the boring knows what he's doing then they'll be chamfered......
but nowadays most guys doing boring have never seen a stroker barrel and so assume that they can do 'em just like a 4 stroke barrel. WRONG !!!

I'm agree... I done the chamfers by myself before the honing; the guy at the shop simply don't understood what I'm asking for speaking about "chamfer the port"...."chamfer what? Why? Where? "

Thanks guys and sorry for the late reply. Been gone awhile. Have 2 NEW cylinders coming from Bangkok that are supposedly NOS Suzuki so standard pistons should apply. Just had heard somewhere that somebody said that EVEN NOS cylinders needed to be honed???? That's what I was asking..

I suppose it sort of depends and you won't really know till you see them, but if they are NOS they will have been sitting for quite a while. If they were mine, I would probably lightly hone them just to be sure they were 'fresh' and ready to go.
