Rubber bung

Hi,
First test ride on the GT550 today, just a short blast round the block, wow - forgot how pokey these old bikes can be!!
However, when I got back there was a gearbox oil leak. I think its the rubber bung on the kickstart shaft end (the one in the clutch release housing). It popped out before - it was loose, so I put a new one in but I suspect it has come out again. I will have a look tomorrow, but has anyone else had this issue, and what caused it and how did you solve it. I presume the gearbox is not pressurised by the engine itself (as in a four stroke with crankcase breather) so I am a bit puzzled by it.
Also, how do you check the gearbox oil level is correct (for when I top it up) as there is no sight window?
Your advice would be much appreciated,
Kind Regards
Steve
