Horn Button Question

Hello All,

Acquired a 1970 Suzuki T500 MkIII, that had been tinkered with. Original owner decided to put drag handlebars, and cut all of the wiring at the hand controls in the process. He got as far as mounting the handlebars. When I purchased the bike, it came with many original and NOS parts, including the original handlebars.

I have set off to put this bike back together as the manufacturer intended it, and made a left side harness and a small harness for the brake light on the right side, and fed them back through the handlebars. Here's My question:

Where do I attach the horn wire to the button in the hand control case? The controls have the brass keeper, horn button, and spring. I am stumped where to attach the wire to. I notice a notch or groove in the control casing that leads me to believe there should be a small wafer board that i solder to the back side that would have a metallic tip, so that when the horn button makes contact, it grounds and sounds the horn. But I can not find anything in the manuals or pictures anywhere that show that detail.

Apologies for the elementary question, but this one has me stumped. Thank you for any insight.

should be a dark green wire that goes from the horn, through the connector and up to the horn button. sounds like you're missing a piece. the other wire to the horn is orange :D
cheers, dd.
