Re: GT250 WHICH OIL TO USE
In what? Forks? Gearbox? 2T oil?
Think of how stupid the average person is, then realise that half of them are more stupid than that.

Re: GT250 WHICH OIL TO USE
Sorry should have been more specific ,
2t and gearbox
I use 2 stroke tools at work and have used synthetic and old style mineral
Oils
When the bike was built synthetic wasn't around so is modern synthetic ok ?
I know not to mix types and will drain the tank and flush the pump cos I don't know what's in it as it's been standing a while .
Am I overthinking it ?

Re: GT250 WHICH OIL TO USE
I use semi synthetic 2T oil in all my 550s - less smoke & cost not too bad - you can turn the pump down a bit too if you don't spank the bike too hard.
Ordinary mineral oil (I use Duckhams 20w50) in the gearboxes & forks as recommended by Eddie Crooks & Frank Whiteway in 1972 when they made my first 'standard' GT550J into a production replica (that they raced at the time.)
