T500

Post by Monkey man »

Hi guys I’m back again needing help `I recently checked the timing and think I have it spot on ( even though I had to narrow the points gap to enable alignment with the timing marks) The bike starts and idles ok but out on the road there is a lag right through the gears but it does eventually rev right up when it picks it’s heels up - it’s hard to describe but I liken it to turbo lag in a car

Any ideas what to check next ? Thanks

If the points gap is smaller than it should be, the condenser doesn't fully charge as the points aren't open 'quite' as long as they should be, this means you get a weaker spark and the engine can feel flatter than normal. If you want 'right' performance, you have to have 'right' timing.
Think of how stupid the average person is, then realise that half of them are more stupid than that.
