Suzuki 2 Strokes

Good evening all

Have been out on the t500 recently and all is well but I’m going to strobe the timing soon .can anyone advise what revs I should be running when aligning the strobe marks?

Any, there is no advance on timing, so you can check any rpm. I check at idle.

When I strobe my T350 the timing retards a mm or so on the rotor index mark as the revs increase. I have checked the rotor mark with a dial gauge to prove it correctly aligns at the timing distance before TDC.

Hi guys back again after checking the timing marks using a dial gauge and happy to report the timing lines on the crank were spot on . So I set the timing first using a bulb arrangement linked the points and earth and then with the strobe to verify ok . However before this when setting the points gap to the recommended gap I couldn’t get the points to open anywhere near the timing marks. The only way I could was to reduce the points gap which allowed me to set up on the marks.

The bike starts and idles fine but out on the road is slow to pick up across the rev range and in every gear - a bit like turbo lag in a car

Any ideas where and what to look at ?

Probably worn out ignition contact sliders. Use new contacts.

If the ignition is OK so far, this sounds more like a carburetor issue.
